Bio-Digester

Bio-Digester is a system in which the organic materials such as cattle dung, kitchen waste, poultry droppings, agricultural wastes & garden waste, etc. are subjected to anaerobic digestion in the presence of methanogenic bacteria to produce efficient cooking gas containing 65% methane gas (CH4) and organic liquid manure.

Bio-Gas Composition And Properties

  • Bio-gas comprises of 60-65% methane, 35-40% carbon dioxide, 0.5-1.0% hydrogen sulphide,  rests of water vapors etc.
  • Biogas is non-toxic, color less and flammable gas. It has an ignition temperature of 650 – 7500
  • Its density is 1.214kg/ m3 (assuming about 60% Methane and 40% CO2).
  • Its calorific value is 20 MJ/m3 (or 4700 kcal.).
  • It is almost 20% lighter than air.
  • Biogas, like Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cannot be converted into liquid state under normal temperature and pressure.
  • It liquefies at a pressure of about 47.4 Kg/cm2 at a critical temperature of -82.1 deg c.

Procedure & Process

Get the MGRL Bio-Digester
  • Initially add cow dung slurry in the quantity of 12% of the total volume of the digester.
  • Mix or chop the organic waste along with water and make it slurry.
  • Add the organic waste slurry in to the digester on daily basis.
  • Allow the slurry to retain in the digester for the next 30 days.
  • Supernatant discharged after 30 days is a good source of manure.
  • Collected biogas is used for cooking with the help of flame arrestor.
